South Aiken came into Tuesday's contest having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 12-7 win over the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Thoroughbreds needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Emma Sturgell was a standout: she scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kam Staley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

South Aiken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

South Aiken's record now sits at 3-13. As for Brookland-Cayce, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Coming up, South Aiken will face off against River Bluff at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.58 runs per game on average), something the Thoroughbreds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Brookland-Cayce, they will square off against Gray Collegiate Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The War Eagles will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Bearcats surely won't give up without a fight.
