Basketball Recap: Point Pleasant Comes Up Short

Point Pleasant lost against Ripley back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Big Blacks fell 36-27 to the Vikings. That's two games in a row now that the Big Blacks have lost by exactly nine points.

When it comes to explaining why Point Pleasant lost, don't look at Faith Howes. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and 20 rebounds. Howes continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Bralee Roush also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Point Pleasant and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Ripley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Point Pleasant will take on Nitro in a holiday battle at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Big Blacks will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Ripley and Winfield will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Vikings their first taste of in-conference action this season.
