Basketball Game Preview: George Jenkins Eagles vs. Mulberry Panthers

After both having extra time off, the George Jenkins Eagles and the Mulberry Panthers will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. George Jenkins will be strutting in after a victory while Mulberry will be coming in after a defeat.

George Jenkins saw some tournament action last Saturday. They snuck past Brandon Academy with a 49-44 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Mulberry might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Moore Haven an easy 55-35 victory. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 667th, while the Terriers are ranked 309th).

George Jenkins has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Mulberry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

George Jenkins beat Mulberry 70-59 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for George Jenkins since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
