Softball Recap: Cedar Vale/Dexter Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

Cedar Vale/Dexter won the last time they faced West Elk and things went their way on Thursday too. Cedar Vale/Dexter was the clear victor by a 19-6 margin over West Elk. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Zoe Davidson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Davidson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and six RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cedar Vale/Dexter let Madelyn Lampson and Bailey Hedgecock run wild. Lampson went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Hedgecock scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Hedgecock a new career-high in doubles (two). Jesyn Vogele was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Cedar Vale/Dexter's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for West Elk, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

As for West Elk, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Sedan at 4:00 p.m. West Elk is facing Sedan at the right time seeing as Sedan is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
