Softball Game Preview: Everglades City Gators vs. Lely Trojans

Everglades City is 0-3 against Lely since March of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Gators will host the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Everglades City has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Everglades City came up short against Southwest Florida Christian on Monday, falling 13-3.

Everglades City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayde Freeman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Freeman has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another was Ava Ramos, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lely made easy work of Dunbar on Friday and carried off an 18-1 victory. The contest marked the Trojans' most dominant win of the season.

Lely's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13. As for Everglades City, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Everglades City suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Lely when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
