Basketball Recap: Wheat Ridge Drops Season-High Score on Englewood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wheat Ridge). They blew past the Englewood Pirates 92-37 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Isaiah Rainalter was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 16 from beyond the arc en route to 41 points and five steals. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Amir Nix, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Englewood's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nathan Owens, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points, and Soren Singer, who posted ten points. Those 17 points gave Owens a new career-high.

The win got Wheat Ridge back to even at 6-6. As for Englewood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheat Ridge will head out to face off against Standley Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Standley Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season. As for Englewood, they are taking a road trip to square off against Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
