Softball Game Preview: Crestwood Red Devils vs. Western Reserve Academy Pioneers

Crestwood is a perfect 3-0 against Western Reserve Academy since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Pioneers at 1:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Crestwood and four for Western Reserve Academy dating back to last season.

Crestwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Cardinal by a score of 21-20 on Wednesday.

Bella Stier was cooking despite her team's loss, going 5-for-6 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Kayleigh Helm also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Lake Catholic hit Western Reserve Academy with a seven-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pioneers lost 14-6 to the Cougars.

Emma Arter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and ten unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Arya Shirsat made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Lockwood, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Crestwood's record is now 1-13. As for Western Reserve Academy, their record now sits at 0-3.

Everything went Crestwood's way against Western Reserve Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Crestwood made off with a 17-6 win. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
