Softball Recap: Ayer Shirley Takes a Loss

Ayer Shirley fell victim to Maynard and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 13-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Ayer Shirley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5-1 record this season. As for Maynard, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ayer Shirley will square off against Tahanto Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maynard, they will challenge Advanced Math & Science Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 2.9, the Eagles 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
