Baseball Recap: Carrollwood Day Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

It's playoff time, and Carrollwood Day had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Tampa Prep Terrapins by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Patriots' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Evan Mazur looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carrollwood Day got a massive performance out of Allen Soriano, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Soriano a new career-high. Julian Earle was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Carrollwood Day kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tampa Prep only managed five hits.

Carrollwood Day has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tampa Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-12.

Looking ahead, Carrollwood Day will challenge Berkeley Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3, the Buccaneers 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Tampa Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
