Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atkins). Everything went their way against the High Point Central Bison on Tuesday as they made off with a 23-12 win. Considering the Camels have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Ava Fleming, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Mayhue, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Atkins kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Atkins' record now sits at 6-11. As for High Point Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Coming up, Atkins will head out on the road to face off against Rockingham County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Camels surely won't give up without a fight. As for High Point Central, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 20-3 win against Ben L. Smith on the 24th.
