Recap: Crossett Eagles vs. Central Cougars
On Friday, The Crossett Eagles got themselves on the board against the Central Cougars, but the Central Cougars never followed suit. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 49-0 victory over the Cougars. Crossett pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Central had no chance of recovering from.
Max Brooks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 247 yards and five touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylin Paskel, who picked up 142 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The win makes it two in a row for Crossett and bumps their season record up to 5-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.6% over those games). As for Central, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crossett will face off against Dumas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Warren's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Central has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
