Newport scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Northwest Christian School Crusaders an easy 78-55 win. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Crusaders are ranked 76th).

Caleb Grant had an outrageously good game for Northwest Christian School as he went 11 of 19 on his way to 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avi West, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points.

Newport's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Northwest Christian School, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Newport will take on Chewelah in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Newport is facing Chewelah at the right time seeing as Chewelah is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Northwest Christian School has already played their next contest, a 74-56 defeat against Mead on the 19th.
