Softball Recap: Connellsville Comes Up Short

Connellsville dropped to 12-9 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Elizabeth Forward Warriors by a score of 16-15. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by just one run.

Kalyn Cole led a balanced group of hitters, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-5. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Cali Leichliter also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for Elizabeth Forward, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games.

On Elizabeth Forward's side, Hannah Evans was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Evans has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Addy Nigut, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

As of now, neither Connellsville nor Elizabeth Forward have any future games scheduled.
