Basketball Recap: Purvis Falls Despite Big Games from Zoey Robinson and Breleigh Adkins

Purvis fought the good fight in their overtime match against Lamar Christian on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 37-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lamar Christian Lions. The Tornadoes have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Breleigh Adkins and Zoey Robinson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Adkins dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Robinson almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 boards. Robinson is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Purvis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 19 consecutive games.

Purvis' defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Lamar Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Purvis will welcome Lawrence County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lamar Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
