Recap: Cass Colonels vs. Cartersville Hurricanes
The Cass Colonels were the 67-66 winner over the Cartersville Hurricanes when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Cass was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 45-44 to Cartersville. Cass has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Cass lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jakai Baldwin. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Foster, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Cartersville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DJ Cain, who scored six points along with 20 rebounds and three blocks. Kaden Baldwin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Cass' loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Cartersville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cass will take on Hiram at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cartersville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Gilmer at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Gilmer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cartersville in Georgia (Gilmer is ranked 117th, while Cartersville is ranked 320th).
