Baseball Game Preview: Foothill Falcons vs. Rocklin Thunder

The Foothill Falcons will take on the Rocklin Thunder at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Foothill will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Foothill gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over Washington. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ryan Cooney looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Tanner Tarpley was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hudson Flora, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Foothill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Rocklin didn't have quite enough to beat West Park on Monday and fell 9-8.

Troy Ueltzen put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Ueltzen was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those hits marked the first that he got this season.

In other batting news, Colby Pudge was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Ahren Verma also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Foothill pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.2 runs. As for Rocklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
