Softball Recap: Pine Prairie Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Pine Prairie waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Iowa Yellowjackets 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since March 17th.

Jolie West spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Josie Vidrine, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Fontenot, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Pine Prairie's record is now 22-4. As for Iowa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Prairie will head out to square off against David Thibodaux at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Iowa, they will venture away from home to challenge Sam Houston at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
