Recap: Sioux County Warriors vs. Morrill Lions

The Sioux County Warriors lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were the victim of a rough 47-25 loss at the hands of Morrill. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Sioux County has suffered against Morrill since January 30, 2021.

Despite the defeat, Sioux County had strong showings from Shane Gluth, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and William Skavdahl, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Gluth hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Cy Hughson, who scored no points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Pittman Ashwin was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 17 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists for Morrill. That's the first time this season that Ashwin posted eight or more assists. Wyler Fisher was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Sioux County dropped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Morrill, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Sioux County will be playing in front of their home fans against Edgemont at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Edgemont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. As for Morrill, they will square off against Hyannis at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hyannis is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
