Recap: Lakeside Panthers vs. Brunswick Pirates
The Lakeside Panthers had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They escaped with a win on Friday against Brunswick by the margin of a single free throw, 71-70. Given Lakeside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Brunswick is ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakeside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Reynierson out in front who scored 22 points. Reynierson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mi?keal Grissom, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Brunswick still got an impressive performance from Nasir Poole, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Poole has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dasean Watson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Lakeside's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7. As for Brunswick, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-12.
Lakeside's road trip will continue as they head out to face Glynn Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. Glynn Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 649 points over their last ten games. As for Brunswick, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Evans at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Evans' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
