Volleyball Recap: Strongsville Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Strongsville proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the North Royalton Bears 3-2. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Strongsville wouldn't go down easily and took North Royalton into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 19-25, 15-8.

Payton Beard paced Strongsville's offense, picking up 27 kills. Beard got some help from Gianna Grecol and her 46 assists. Grecol also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Calette Hicks, racking up four apiece.

When it comes to explaining why North Royalton lost, don't look at Ally Buffa. Despite the final result, she had 24 digs and three assists.

Strongsville's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for North Royalton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Strongsville will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Medina at 6:30 p.m. on September 4. As for North Royalton, they will venture away from home to square off against Elyria at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
