Softball Game Preview: Florin Panthers vs. Johnson Warriors

The Florin Panthers will face off against the Johnson Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Tuesday, Florin made easy work of Valley and carried off a 24-8 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Johnson got the win against West Campus on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-1. Johnson hasn't had any issues with West Campus recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Angelene Gonzales was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

In other batting news, Anissa Zavala was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leticia Gonzales, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Johnson's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Florin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
