In game that features 1,006 yards and 10 lead changes, Mansfield outlasts visiting Cedar Hill.
Video: Kennedy Brooks' highlights vs. DeSoto High School.Considering
Cedar Hill (Texas), the nation's No. 12 team, had allowed a little more than 10 points per game coming in, one would think scoring 43 would be more than enough.
Not so.
When
Mansfield (Texas) junior running back
Kennedy Brooks broke loose for a 39-yard touchdown run in the first two minutes, Cedar Hill knew things might be a little different.
They were.

Brooks broke loose for three more touchdowns, including the game-winner with 1:16 remaining, and finished with 208 yards rushing according to
sportsdaydfw.com, leading host Mansfield (7-2) to a wild and classic 46-43 back-and-forth victory.
Despite 430 yards passing and six touchdowns from 4-star junior quarterback
Avery Davis, Cedar Hill (8-1) dropped its first game of the year. Davis also rushed for a team-high 55 yards.
The game featured 1,006 yards, almost evenly divided — 507 for Cedar Hill and 499 for Mansfield. It also featured 10 lead changes and three ties.
Davis answered Brooks' first touchdown with a 38-yard TD pass to
Josh Stewart, knotting the game at six apiece.
The teams traded touchdowns by the end of the first quarter —
Austin Tidwell hauled in a 76-yard pass from
Dameron Smith for Mansfield and Davis connected with Stewart again for a 25-yard score — tying the game at 13.
Smith completed a 34-yard pass to
Saiid Adebo to give Mansfield a quick 20-13 lead, but Davis responded less than two minutes later with a 5-yard scoring toss to
Camron Buckley, tying the game at 20.
Back came Mansfield, as Smith fired an 84-yard bomb to
Michael Christopher, putting Mansfield up 26-20. However the extra point was blocked and Cedar Hill returned it for a 2-point conversion, cutting the deficit to 26-22. Davis then fired a 52-yard TD pass to
Charleston Rambo to give Cedar Hill a 29-26 halftime lead, its first of the game.

The see-saw affair teetered back to Mansfield when Brooks scored on an 8-yard run with 8:32 left in the third quarter, making it 33-29.
Back came Davis, with a 28-yard TD pass to Buckley, giving Cedar Hill a 36-33 edge.
Brooks' 3-yard run early in the fourth quarter gave Mansfield a 40-36 lead. Davis responded one more time with a 19-yard TD pass to
Malik Orr to go up 43-40 with 3:21 left.
No problem, said Mansfield. It raced right back downfield, and Brooks capped it off with a 16-yard run with 1:16 left.
That was plenty of time for Cedar Hill to drive for a game-winning score, but Davis was intercepted at the Mansfield 11 to essentially end the terrific game.
