Basketball Recap: American Leadership Academy Skates Past Merit Preparatory Academy with Ease

American Leadership Academy won the last time they faced Merit Preparatory Academy and things went their way on Monday too. The American Leadership Academy Eagles claimed a resounding 72-33 win over the Merit Preparatory Academy Knights. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Kannon Huntsman, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Huntsman is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Hunter, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miles Petersen, who posted eight points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Drexton Hardy, who had five points and three steals.

American Leadership Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.0 points per game. As for Merit Preparatory Academy, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American Leadership Academy will take on San Juan at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Merit Preparatory Academy, they will challenge Mount Vernon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Mount Vernon and three for Merit Preparatory Academy.
