Softball Recap: Berkeley Springs Comes Up Short

Berkeley Springs had lost 15 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-22 to make it 16. They came up short against the Moorefield Yellow Jackets, falling 9-1. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Indians couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Moorefield, the victory got them back to even at 16-16. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

For Moorefield's part, Annie Barr was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barr has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brenna See was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Raleigh Kuykendall also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Berkeley Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Moorefield, they will face off against Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Yellow Jackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
