Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Steamboat Springs' Winning Streak

After flying high against Moffat County on Tuesday, Steamboat Springs came back down to earth. The Sailors fell 3-1 to the Eagle Valley Devils on Thursday. The Sailors' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Steamboat Springs actually scored more points across those four sets (93-92), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-22, 27-25, 15-25, 25-21.

Steamboat Springs lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Macee Wettlaufer, who had 27 digs and three assists. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 11 digs per game. Sammy Coleman was another key player, getting 14 digs.

Steamboat Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Eagle Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Steamboat Springs will be playing in front of their home fans against Hayden at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eagle Valley, they will venture away from home to face off against Grand Junction Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
