Softball Game Preview: South Rowan Raiders vs. Carson Cougars

The South Rowan Raiders will head out to square off against the Carson Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Rowan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for South Rowan's offense. They came up short against East Rowan on Tuesday, falling 6-0. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

South Rowan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cressley Patterson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Carson beat Concord 6-1 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Caylee Snow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caroline Snow, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenzie Powers, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Carson's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for South Rowan, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

Everything went South Rowan's way against Carson in their previous matchup back in March, as South Rowan made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
