Baseball Recap: Halifax County Comes Up Short

Halifax County lost to Magna Vista back in April and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Comets came up short against the Warriors, falling 13-6. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Garison Colwell made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Halifax County is 2-1 when Colwell posts three or more RBI, but 2-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Morgan, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Halifax County's record is now 4-14. As for Magna Vista, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8.

Looking ahead, Halifax County will take on Bassett at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bengals' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Magna Vista, they will square off against Cave Spring at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
