Softball Game Preview: Gilmer County Titans vs. Clay County Panthers

The Gilmer County Titans will challenge the Clay County Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Gilmer County came out on top against Tyler on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Titans blew past the Knights 15-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

Emeri Hickman was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Kenley Hartshorn was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Clay County got themselves on the board against South Harrison on Tuesday, but South Harrison never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 12-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Hawks since May 4, 2021.

Gilmer County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Clay County, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Gilmer County took their victory against Clay County in their previous meeting last Tuesday by a conclusive 19-2 score. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
