Basketball Recap: Wes-Del Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Josiah Love and Julian Carpenter

Wes-Del played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 78-56 to the Blackford Bruins. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wes-Del's loss came despite strong showings from Julian Carpenter and Josiah Love. Carpenter went 11-for-22 en route to 28 points and five boards, while Love posted 23 points and five rebounds. Carpenter is becoming a predictor of Wes-Del's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 5-2 (and 2-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Flynn, who had five points.

Blackford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gage Baker led the charge by going 7-for-13 to rack up 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Baker now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Jacob Leas, who went 8-for-12 on his way to 22 points.

Wes-Del's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Blackford, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Wes-Del wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-46 defeat against Eastbrook on the 14th. As for Blackford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-40 victory against Oak Hill on the 14th.
