Recap: Northwest Cabarrus Trojans vs. Carson Cougars
If the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans were feeling good off their 73-33 takedown of the East Rowan Mustangs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Northwest Cabarrus took a hard 79-61 fall against Carson on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Northwest Cabarrus' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Gonder, who scored 17 points. Isaac Woolfolk was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Northwest Cabarrus has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Carson, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Cabarrus will take on West Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Carson, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on East Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. One thing working in Carson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
