Football Recap: Strong Effort on D from Ca'ron Williams and Jayden Crowder Leads Santa Margarita over Centennial + How To Watch

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Santa Margarita ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 33-27 win over the Centennial Huskies. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Trace Johnson had a dynamite game, throwing for 209 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one score on the ground. A healthy portion of Johnson's aerial production (83 yards to be exact) went to Luke Gazzaniga.

Santa Margarita didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ca'Ron Williams and Jayden Crowder. Williams got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ty Plinski, who picked up 123 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Malaki Davis was another key player, rushing for 68 yards and one touchdown.

The victory got Santa Margarita back to even at 1-1. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Coming up, Santa Margarita is taking a road trip to take on Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Centennial, they will host Bingham at 7:00 p.m. on September 6.
