Top 25 high school football rankings

The nation's top teams continue to impress, and as a result, the battle for the No. 1 spot could be a photo finish.

The Top 5 teams in the country all won convincingly, highlighted by a 30-6 victory for St. Thomas Aquinas over California power De La Salle.

Bellevue (Wash.), which continues to impress, moves from No. 20 to No. 16. The Washington power has been dominant this season.

Returning to the Top 10 is St. Edward. The Eagles are 5-0 and enjoyed a lopsided victory over defending Florida state champion Jefferson.



Servite, perhaps the top team in California so far this season, enters the rankings. The Friars will hit the road to take on Bishop Gorman on Friday night.

Cincinnati power Moeller also enters the rankings, following a 27-24 victory over St. Xavier.

MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard

1. (1) Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), 3-0
The Ironmen downed Ridgewood 35-0. Quarterback Mike Yankovich threw for two touchdowns.

2. (2) Armwood (Seffner, Fla.), 4-0
Armwood looked dominant once again, pounding Leto 68-0. Returning from injury, Matt Jones scored three touchdowns.

3. (3) Trinity (Louisville, Ky.), 5-0
James Quick scored two second-half touchdowns as Trinity pulled away from Cathedral 36-14.



4. (4) Allen (Texas), 4-0
Continuing its dominant play, Allen hammered Plano 44-7. Plano's only touchdown came on a fumble recovery.

5. (5) St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 3-0
In a highly touted showdown, Aquinas came away with an impressive 30-6 victory over California power De La Salle.

Six different players scored for DeSoto, which hammered Tulsa NOAH Home School 61-13.

7. (7) Katy (Texas), 4-0
Freshman Rodney Anderson went for 168 yards as Katy hammered city rival Seven Lakes 46-7.

8. (8) Gaffney (S.C.), 6-0
Four touchdowns from quarterback Joey Copeland helped Gaffney win easily, 73-0 over Greenville.

9. (12) St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio), 5-0
St. Edward pounded visiting Jefferson 52-13. The Eagles dialed up 490 yards and scored on their first four possessions.

10. (9) Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.), 4-0
In Washington Catholic Athletic Conference action, Good Counsel hammered Gonzaga 49-7. Top recruit Stefon Diggs scored three times for the Falcons.{PAGEBREAK}11. (13) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 5-1
In a tune-up before its showdown against Servite, Bishop Gorman overwhelmed Sierra Vista 74-6.

12. (15) Harrison (Farmington Hills, Mich.), 5-0
Aaron Burbridge hauled in three touchdowns and 215 yards for Harrison, which beat Southfield-Lathrup 43-0.

13. (16) Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.), 5-0
Jela Duncan rushed for four touchdowns on just eight carries in Mallard Creek's big 55-0 win over Lake Norman.

14. (17) Buford (Ga.), 6-0
Buford moved to 6-0 on the season with a 35-7 victory over Lovett. Andre Johnson rushed for 180 yards.

15. (11) Trinity (Euless, Texas), 5-0
Austin Lopez nailed a 37-yard field goal in overtime to help Trinity squeak past Heritage 38-35.

Bellevue pounded Lake Washington 54-0. Oaks Christian, a team that the Wolverines beat in their season-opener, came away with a big win over St. Bonaventure, to the benefit of Bellevue.



17. (18) Warren Central (Indianapolis), 6-0
Enjoying its second consecutive blowout, Warren Central cruised to a 50-19 victory over North Vigo.

18. (19) Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), 4-0
Bye. Next game: Sept. 30 vs. Shiloh (Snellville, Ga.).

19. (21) Lake Travis (Austin, Texas), 5-0
Baker Mayfield threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another in Lake Travis' 54-16 victory over Dripping Springs.

20. (NR) Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati), 5-0
Moeller hung on for a 27-24 victory over crosstown rival St. Xavier. Keith Watkins II scored twice for the Crusaders.

22. (24) Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.), 4-0
It was another laugher for Camden County, which won easily over Bradwell Institute 58-0.

23. (NR) Servite (Anaheim, Calif.), 4-0
Servite downed Edison 27-14 and will next travel to Las Vegas to take on Bishop Gorman.

24. (25) Columbus (Miami), 3-0
Darryl Chestnut's three touchdowns were more than enough for Columbus, which downed Miami 55-3.

25. (23) Union (Tulsa, Okla.), 4-0
Union pounded Bixby 67-17. The Redskins' defense and special teams accounted for three scores.
