Baseball Recap: Grace Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Grace Academy had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the York Prep Patriots on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Patriots back in March, they had to take a 6-4 loss.

John Dunlap tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Seth Stanton, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alex Fredrick, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Grace Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as York Prep only posted an OBP of .405.

Grace Academy's record is now 12-8. As for York Prep, they now have a losing record of 10-11-1.

Coming up, Grace Academy will welcome Legion Collegiate Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for York Prep, they will venture away from home to square off against Andrew Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Volunteers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.88 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
