Baseball Recap: Piedmont Find Success

While Piedmont's win against Central Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Piedmont won by a run and slipped past Central Academy 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Trent Polk was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Piedmont's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Polk was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Colby Dawson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Piedmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Piedmont's record now sits at 3-8. As for Central Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Piedmont is set to face off against their familiar foe Forest Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Central Academy will challenge rival Anson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
