The Whitehaven Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Germantown Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Whitehaven will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Sheffield on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Knights. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Andrew Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Robinson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Whitehaven got a massive performance out of Jaylon Dodson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Dodson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramar Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Whitehaven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Germantown made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cordova on Wednesday. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 19-6 win. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Gabriel Valles, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Germantown is 5-1 when Valles posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cameron Leaks, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Whitehaven's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-4-1. As for Germantown, their record now sits at 8-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Whitehaven has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Germantown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Whitehaven might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Germantown when the teams last played back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
