Basketball Game Preview: Rawlins Outlaws vs. Torrington Trailblazers

The Rawlins Outlaws will venture away from home to square off against the Torrington Trailblazers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rawlins will be strutting in after a victory while Torrington will be coming in after a defeat.

Rawlins is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Wheatland: they outscored them in every quarter. Rawlins strolled past Wheatland with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 54-38. That 16 point margin sets a new team best for the Outlaws this season.

Rawlins relied on the efforts of Damien Vialpando, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 20 points, and Vaughn Grant, who went 7 for 9 en route to 14 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Grant a new career-high. Lincoln Searle was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Torrington faced Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The game between Torrington and Douglas didn't end well, with Torrington falling 64-49. The Trailblazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Torrington now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Rawlins, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9.

Rawlins didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Torrington in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, but they still walked away with a 57-53 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rawlins since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
