Softball Recap: Valders Beats Two Rivers for Their Seventh Straight Win

Valders came tearing into Thursday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Two Rivers Purple Raiders. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Purple Raiders back in April, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Megan Hochkammer made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makayla Dallas, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Arianna Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Valders' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Two Rivers, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-5 record.

Looking ahead, Valders will challenge Reedsville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Two Rivers, they will take on Brillion at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
