South won against Woodlake last Saturday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. South beat the North Stars by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-3. Considering the Spartans have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Tomas Encinas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, South let Giovanni Jimenez and Jose Bojorquez run wild. Jimenez scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Bojorquez scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
