Basketball Game Preview: Eustace Bulldogs vs. Quitman Bulldogs

The Eustace Bulldogs will square off against the Quitman Bulldogs at 5:10 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Eustace came up short against Grand Saline and fell 44-34. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Eustace saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Paige Quigg posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Quigg a new career-high in boards.

Even though they lost, Eustace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Quitman played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Pittsburg, falling 43-22. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Quitman's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Eustace, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Everything came up roses for Eustace against Quitman in their previous meeting back in January of 2017, as the squad secured a 53-26 win. In that match, Eustace amassed a halftime lead of 35-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
