Volleyball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Oak Ridge's Winning Streak

After a string of six wins, Oak Ridge's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Jesuit Marauders by a score of 3-2. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Marauders earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

While Oak Ridge ultimately came up short, they really made Jesuit work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-21, 24-26, 18-25, 15-10.

Jamie Fraser paced Oak Ridge's offense, picking up 15 kills. Fraser got some help from Jack Reynolds and his 33 assists. Sam Renaud controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Leading Jesuit to victory were Luca McGlynn and Naryan Banerjee. McGlynn had six digs and two aces, while Banerjee had 14 digs and five assists. That's the most aces McGlynn has posted over his last seven matches. Charlie Wohlfeld also deserves some recognition as he had his first blocks of the season.

Oak Ridge's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 26-2. As for Jesuit, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-12 record this season.

Oak Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Folsom on the 23rd. As for Jesuit, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Davis Sr. on the 23rd.
