Basketball Game Preview: Estacado Matadors vs. White Longhorns

The Estacado Matadors and the White Longhorns will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Estacado knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 contests -- so hopefully White likes a good challenge.

Estacado took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 74-60 victory over Pebble Hills. Given the Matadors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Spartans are ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, White waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They took their game with ease, bagging a 71-40 win over the Mustangs. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

White is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Estacado, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
