Football Recap: Gilbert Tigers vs. Desert Mountain Wolves
Gilbert and Desert Mountain squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Gilbert had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Wolves 54-8. Having soared to a lofty 43 points in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Zane Grant threw for 81 yards on nine of 18 attempts. Denim Smith was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards and one TD.
Desert Mountain found their leader in sophomore Easton Conner, who rushed for 135 yards and three scores on only seven carries, and also picked up 54 receiving yards. Conner also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making three total tackles (1.5 for loss). Ryan Cratty was another key player, rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.
