Football Recap: Gilbert Falls Short of Desert Mountain in the Playoffs + How To Watch

Gilbert and Desert Mountain squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Gilbert had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Wolves 54-8. Having soared to a lofty 43 points in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Zane Grant threw for 81 yards on nine of 18 attempts. Denim Smith was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards and one TD.

Desert Mountain found their leader in sophomore Easton Conner, who rushed for 135 yards and three scores on only seven carries, and also picked up 54 receiving yards. Conner also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making three total tackles (1.5 for loss). Ryan Cratty was another key player, rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Gilbert has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Desert Mountain, their record now sits at 8-3.

Gilbert does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Desert Mountain, they will challenge Cactus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cobras will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight.
