Basketball Game Preview: King Jaguars vs. Wells Raiders

The King Jaguars will face off against the Wells Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. King will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when King faced off against Longwood last Tuesday. King came out on top against Longwood by a score of 41-33. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Panthers are ranked 559th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wells walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 53-33 win on Tuesday. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Wells' win came from a few key players King will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jacoby Cail, who posted 17 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Tyus, who earned 16 points.

King pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Wells, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
