Baseball Recap: Hoggard's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Hoggard posted their closest win since May 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the South Brunswick Cougars. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jake Jeffrey was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Jeffrey was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Jeffrey wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Preston Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Smith a new career-high.

Hoggard lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win (which was Hoggard's third in a row) raised their record to 3-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for South Brunswick, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Hoggard will take on North Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hoggard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. As for South Brunswick, they have already played their next match, a 10-8 defeat against Reagan on the 12th.
