Softball Recap: North Springs Wins Going Away Against Lovett + How To Watch

The North Springs Spartans made easy work of the Lovett Lions on Monday and carried off a 14-6 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kate Lott made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lott was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Leila Madesko and Jamie Masker did most of the damage at the plate: Madesko got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, while Masker went 1-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Those four runs gave Madesko a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sarah Browne, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs.

North Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.4.

The victory made it two in a row for North Springs and bumps their season record up to 8-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Lovett, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. North Springs will square off against St. Pius X Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lovett, they will challenge Parkview at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
