Football Recap: Smoky Mountain Takes a Loss

Smoky Mountain lost against Brevard back in March of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mustangs were outmatched by the Blue Devils and fell 54-12. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-12.

When it comes to explaining why Smoky Mountain lost, don't look at Rylee Smith. Despite the final result, he rushed for 225 yards and one TD while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. The Mustangs also got a significant boost from Hunter Cole, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Smoky Mountain now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Brevard, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Smoky Mountain is set to square off against their familiar foe West Henderson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Smith and Zane McCraw. Meanwhile, Brevard will challenge rival East Henderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
