Baseball Game Preview: Tell City Marksmen vs. Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats

The Tell City Marksmen will take on the Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tell City will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Tell City is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let South Spencer get on the board and left with a 1-0 win.

Not much got past Talon Jennings, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep South Spencer off the board. Jennings also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tell City is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Tell City saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Schraner, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Evansville Mater Dei earned an 8-4 victory over Perry Central on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Commodores: they've now won four in a row.

Tell City's record is now 10-12. As for Evansville Mater Dei, their record now sits at 18-7.

Tell City couldn't quite finish off Evansville Mater Dei in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Marksmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
