2015 Virginia Preseason Football Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach)
Coach: Chris Scott
2014 finish: 15-0; Class 6A state champion
Team preview

Ocean Lakes was dominant in 2014 and should be better in 2015. As such, it cracked the MaxPreps Preseason Top 25 Early Contenders. Kody Cunningham and Tyler DeSue are both options behind center. Khalan Laborn will ease the loss of Jasson Lewis at running back. Levonta Taylor will play some wide receiver, but in the secondary, he is arguably the nation's best.

Jalen Elliott, a Notre Dame commit, is among 13 starters back for the defending Class 5A state champion, which has won three consecutive state titles. It is favored to four-peat. Rayshard Ashby, only a junior, was an all-conference pick at linebacker last season and will keep Bird in the title hunt for the next two seasons.

3. Lake Taylor (Norfolk)
Coach: Hank Sawyer
2014 finish: 15-0; Class 4A state champion
Team preview

Lake Taylor notched victories over a host of current and former state powers in 2014, including Phoebus, Bird and Salem. In the case of Salem, it routed a previously unbeaten team 41-16 to capture a state title. This year's squad will be led by its defense, which features Ohio State commit Wayne Davis, impact transfer Keyvone Bruton and top junior Darnell Ewell.

4. Westfield (Chantilly)
Coach: Kyle Simmons
2014 finish: 12-2
Team preview

Westfield announced its presence last season with a 42-21 double-overtime victory over reigning champion Centreville. It followed that up with seven consecutive wins before falling to Centreville in the playoffs. Still, it's clear that Westfield is a threat to capture its first title since 2007. Six-foot-6 receiver Tyler Scanlon, who led the team in receptions and yards last year, will play an even bigger role on offense. Navy commit Jack Clancy leads the defense.

5. Oscar Smith (Chesapeake)
Coach: Richard Morgan
2014 finish: 12-2
Team preview

Oscar Smith has graduated the likes of Andrew Brown (Virginia) and Josh Sweat (Florida State) in the last two years. That fact that it remains in contention for a state title speaks to the success of the program under head coach Richard Morgan. Junior Shon Mitchell enters his third season as the team's starter at quarterback. Only a sophomore, cornerback DeAngelo White could be the program's next blue-chip recruit.
