Preview: Arvin Bears vs. Exeter Monarchs
The Arvin Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Exeter Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Thursday, Arvin ended up a good deal behind Golden Valley and lost 70-54. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Arvin in their matchups with Golden Valley: they've now lost five in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Allen Stone, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Miguel Damian, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Exeter's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. The game between Exeter and Immanuel wasn't particularly close, with Exeter falling 80-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Arvin's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Exeter, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Arvin didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Exeter in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 67-63 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arvin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
