Softball Recap: Key West Takes a Loss

If Key West was feeling good fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Ransom Everglades last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Key West Conchs fell 4-0 to the Eustis Panthers on Tuesday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Conchs were not able to get on the board.

Brianna Brenner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Key West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilee Gage, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double was Gage's first of the season.

Key West has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. The victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Eustis beat Key West by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday.
